Best Irish Whiskies We've Reviewed — The Liquor Connoisseur's Ranked List

Irish whiskey is the world's fastest-growing spirits category — and Crystal and Roger have reviewed expressions from across the style spectrum. Here's the ranked list.

🥇 #1 — Redbreast 12 Year | The Robin's Redemption

Single pot still Irish whiskey at its finest. Redbreast 12 carries the most complex, rewarding flavor profile in the approachable Irish whiskey category. Orchard fruit, spice, and a rich, oily texture from the pot still. Crystal and Roger call it the bottle that makes you take Irish whiskey seriously.

🥈 #2 — Dingle Single Malt Batch No. 5 | The Irish Craft Statement

The craft Irish single malt that fools you on the nose — you'd guess Speyside before Ireland. Small batch, limited, and worth seeking out. Crystal and Roger covered Dingle's fifth batch and called it one of the most interesting Irish expressions available.

What Makes Irish Whiskey Different

Irish whiskey must be produced on the island of Ireland and aged minimum 3 years. The defining style is triple-distilled pot still — making it the smoothest major whiskey category. Single pot still Irish (using a mix of malted and unmalted barley in a pot still) is the most distinctly Irish style and the one Crystal and Roger most recommend exploring.
